International Ship Owner Bareboat Charters

CSB Group provides Resident Agent services to clients who need to register a vessel on the Maltese Register. We are also geared to provide bespoke advise on shipping structures and any needs with respect to the bareboat in or out of your vessel.

International Ship Owner

Foreign corporate bodies and individuals who are citizens of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are qualified to own Maltese ships in their own name.

A non-Maltese owner must however appoint a Resident Agent in Malta to act on its behalf prior to the registration of the yacht or vessel on the Maltese Register.

CSB Group provides Resident Agent services to clients requiring such representation.

Bareboat Charter Registration

A Maltese registered vessel may be registered under bareboat charter under a foreign flag and a non-Maltese registered vessel is eligible to be registered under bareboat charter under the Maltese flag, if the vessel in question is registered in a compatible registry.

In order to obtain permanent registration certain documentation will be required and it is important to note that the MSD may impose additional specific requirements depending on the different types of vessels. The permanent Certificate of Malta Registry is renewable on an annual basis and an annual fee is due to MSD. Renewal is due annually from the date of initial registration.
